Currently, logistics activities play a significance role in the development of countries. And the revenue generated by these activities related to the supply chain is responsible for a large part of the GDP of developed countries. This is while, 90% of cargo exchange and international transportation is carried out by sea and through ports.
The above-mentioned points and several other contributing factors highlight the importance of Chabahar as the only oceanic port in the country and its significance in the development of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Chabahar port is situated along the north-south corridor connecting central Asian countries and Afghanistan to the open seas while being the 4th most important logistics city in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Chabahar, however, requires appropriate infrastructures to play its vital role in the development of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The establishment of access routes and a variety of modes of transportation, including maritime, railway, aerial and by land and the realization of hinterland potentials are among the most significant parts of infrastructure in the region.
While the government is tasked with the development of the berths, airports, railway, etc., the private sector can play an undeniable role in the construction and the development of the infrastructure.
The construction of the hinterland for Shahid Beheshti and Shahid Kalantary ports is part of the efforts that can be fulfilled by the private sector.
Considering the development plan for Mokran shoreline and Chabahar port, Arman Makoran Development and Civil co. was convened in 2018. This was to expand the infrastructure in the region aimed at the establishment of logistics centers. Following the initial studies, Arman Makoran made the proposal for the Logistics Park to the CFZ. This park was to be constructed in an area of 94 ha, immediately adjacent to the Shahid Kalantary pier.
Following the signing of cooperation contract, acquiring the necessary licenses and studies, the project’s preparation phase has been underway. The project’s preparation phase is projected to be completed in 3 years. This would also include the Logistics Park’s main functions.
The shareholders, managers and consultants to Arman Makoran possess extensive experience and considerable resumes including planning and execution of development projects. We have invested all our financial and managerial resources in Chabahar Logistics Park. We have allocated financial resources and veteran consultants and contractors as well as the relevant machinery to carry out the project within the approved timeline.
This should be added that in line with the order of the honorable deputy to the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the secretary to Free and Special Economic Zones, the utilization of project and its different phases will commence from the second year on.
We sincerely express our gratitude to the management body and the personnel of Chabahar Free Zone and the port office of the Port and Maritime of Sistan and Baluchistan province and Chabahar municipality. The above mentioned organizations made the definition and execution of the first logistics project in Chabahar with the cooperation of the private sector possible. We hope that the execution of this project is a prelude to the stronger presence of the private sector at the region in our beloved country.
